For the fourth consecutive year, NBA.com fans voted the Miami Heat Dancers as the winner of the Dance Team Bracket challenge. In the finals, the Heat Dancers received 64% of the votes while runner-up Houston got 36% of the votes. It was the second time in four years the Heat Dancers have faced Rocket Power in the finals. Their previous head-to-head showdown came in 2007. The Heat Dancers went up against the Clippers’ Spirit Team in 2008, and the inaugural Dance Bracket final in 2006 featured the Heat and the Sacramento Kings.
The Dance Team Bracket challenge began with 30 NBA dance teams, competing in a single-elimination tournament. The Final Four included the Heat, Bobcats, Rockets and Hornets. The Honeybees pulled off a mild surprised in the first round by knocking off the Laker Girls. In the semifinals, Rocket Power easily advanced to the finals by garnering 72% of the votes, compared to just 28% for the Honeybees. The Heat Dancers won a close duel with the Lady Cats, 55% to 45%, in the other semifinal.
