Last year it was “Call Me Maybe” and “Gangnam Style” that got great run on the World Wide Web with loads and loads of video spoofs that people couldn’t get enough of. Now it’s the “Harlem Shake” that’s trending.
The Miami Heat joined the “Harlem Shake” fun by producing their own version of the latest dance craze. The video starts with Chris “Birdman” Andersen flapping his wings and mugging the camera. Once the music gets cranking all hell breaks loose in the Heat locker room. LeBron James, wearing his king crown and red robe, is front and center with his royal gyration. Chris Bosh and his bathrobe walks around with his beat box, and Dwyane Wade (at least we think it’s Wade) jumps in with his big mascot head. The best part of the whole vid is Mario Chalmers donning a Super Mario outfit. We get it!
We all know LeBron can dance, we’ve seen it during pre-game warmups and sometimes during timeouts. The dude can cut the rug. It’s nice to see elite pro athletes having fun without getting too offensive (i.e. the Spanish National team and their racist photo). The Heat are rolling and currently enjoying their longest winning streak in the LeBron-Wade-Bosh era, so why not have some fun and let loose.
Well done, boys.
