They were a wildly undisciplined basketball team, which is why they could never beat Indiana. Webber‘s timeout was an extension of this and it betrayed them at the worst possible moment.

I look back in the records and Michigan’s 1993 run wasn’t as dominate until the tournament. In 1992 they seemed to carry that chip into the following season but had all of them not jumped ship after that game the possibly could have done well in 1994. However the tide was turning and they knew that Arkansas and UCLA were getting better and were unlikely to be beaten by the fab five in the remaining years. People forget that they still had time left to win a chip they just chose not to

Fab 5 were greatly overrated. I remember the Flyin Illini wearing the shorts long before Michigan as well. They got lucky with some better teams getting upset in the tourney.

As for the baggy shorts, Michael Jordan wore them first during the 1980s then Jerry Tarkanian’s UNLV Runnin’ Rebels made them fashionable in the early 1990s” Just a FYI, Jalen Rose went to same high school in Detroit, MI (Detroit Southwestern), and Hunt won the tournament MVP when UNLV won NCAA title against Duke. Jalen Rose watched the game from Anderson Hunt family basement. So, to say that Michigan is attempting to take credit from UNLV, when in reality Jalen Rose and Anderson Hunt were teammates at Detroit Southwestern wearing the long shorts is not a good argument. Henry Ford didn’t invent the automobile, but he took it to a whole new level with the assembly line. Yes, fads were coming into place in late 80’s before Fab Five, but they took it to a whole new level!
