Because of the lockout, the 2011-12 NBA season was one nonstop frenetic highlight reel. Games were fast and furious, and so were the slam dunks.
There were several jaw-dropping dunks that drew attention from NBA TV, TNT, and SportsCenter, but only five ultimately stood above from the rest. Who could forget Blake Griffin’s tomahawk over Kendrick Perkins that brought Clippers longtime announcer Ralph Lawler off his seat and out of his mind. And what about LeBron James’ leapfrog over poor little John Lucas. Both are very strong play-of-the-year candidates, but one amazing windmill throwdown off a lob pass on a fastbreak edges Griffin and LeBron for top honors.
